W1 D1 A2 Dr Jessa Rogers

How I calculated Jessa’s age when she won the NAIDOC Youth of the Year award:

She was born on 7 April 1985 and she received the award on 9 July 2010.

Image result for mathSubtract 1985 (year she was born) from 2010 (year she won award) = 25 years.

25 years would be on April 7th 2010 because April 7th is her date of birth.

The remainder months from April to July would = 3 months.

This will take us to July 7th 2010.

Add on 2 more days which equals to July 9th 2010 (the year she won the award).

So the answer is 25 years, 3 months and 2 day

  1. Kia Ora Zayden,

Well done for calculating Jessa’s age successfully. Did you like having a maths challenge include in this years Summer Learning Journey? What do you think you will be doing when you are 25? Winning a NAIDOC award? A full timer Youtuber? Becoming the youngest Prime Minister of New Zealand? I turn 25 this year and I am happy that I am in the second year of my dream job, teaching!

I look forward to reading more of your blog posts soon!

    Blog ya later,

    Dani
