W2 D2 A2 School Strike for Climate

Climate change in Schools.

Things I learnt:

1. Greenhouse gases, which trap heat close to the earth’s surface (like a blanket), are the cause of climate change.
The most significant greenhouse gas is carbon dioxide, which has increased by more than 45% since the Industrial Revolution.

2. Australia is the world’s largest coal exporter. Burning coal is the primary cause of climate change.
If we account for all the fossil fuels that we export, Australia is the fifth biggest polluter in the world.

3. Australia is one of the most vulnerable countries to the impacts of climate change, which we are already experiencing in the form of increasingly dangerous floods, drought, fires and heatwaves.

I am going to help climate change by actually eating the food I am given instead of letting it go to waste.

  1. Hey Zayden,

That's a really interesting though on how you can contribute to combating climate change. It certainly costs lots to male the food and the amounts of pollution caused to transport things like food adds up, so making sure we don't waste what we have is a good start but hopeful just the beginning of lots of other little steps.

Did you know, I found out recently, that big animals like cows, that have to process the grass they eat lots of times before the can digest it produce lots of gasses like carbon dioxide and methane almost as much as a car! and mostly from there burbs! So the fact that New Zealand has lots of cows is like having thousands more cars on the road polluting the air.

    See you in the comments.

    Daniel :)
